The Georgia Tech Athletic Hospitality (GTAH) Internship is designed for individuals interested in athletic event management and hospitality to gain a hands-on experience. Interpersonal, communication, organization, leadership, and multitasking skills are required and should be further developed throughout the internship. This experience will allow the intern an opportunity to work in the related industry in his/her future career.

The Hospitality Intern plays a vital role in the success of the hospitality program by supporting the Hospitality Manager and Hospitality Assistant Manager. The intern contributes to the success of Georgia Tech Athletics' football, men's basketball and baseball premium seating operations and gameday management. Interns work closely with donors, GT Athletic Department Staff, and GTAH gameday staff.

Position Overview

Interns must be flexible with scheduling and willing to work extended hours on week nights and weekends. Ideal candidates must be available to work Friday-Sunday during football gameweeks and men's basketball and baseball home games. In addition, interns will have some administrative tasks in preparatin for gamedays.

The position will require a commitment to all six home football games and most mens' basketball and baseball games (dependent on the internship semester working). Office hours can range from 4-8 hours depending on the workload. In-office days vary week to week based on need.

Experience in Event Management, Hospitality, Sport Management and/or Customer Service field is preferred.

 

Fall Internships are from July 15, 2022-December 15, 2022 & Spring Internships are from December 15, 2023-May 15, 2023.This is a paid position with a current rate of $14/hr. 

 

Roles & Responsibilities

Administrative:

  • Assist the Assistant Manager in recruiting, training and managing FANgineers

  • Assist with content creation

  • Uniform & electronic equipment management - in season

  • Create/Develop & execute Professional Day for current & future FANgineers and students 

Football (Fall):

  • Work alongside another game-day intern for each home game

  • Manage 1/2 of all designated premium areas and respective FANgineers and lead suite stocking within Bobby Dodd Stadium

  • Oversee all FANgineers on game-day

  • Rotating with another game-day intern to re-stock West & South Suites post-game-day

Men's Basketball (Fall):

  • Rotating with another game-day intern to cover all home games 

  • Managing designated premium areas within McCamish Pavilion (Callaway Club, Courtside & Gold Suite)

  • Oversee all FANgineers on game-day

  • Pre-game prep and set-up and premium area closing

Baseball (Spring):

  • Rotating with another game-day intern to cover all home games 

  • Managing designated premium areas within Mac Nease Baseball Park at Russ Chandler Stadium (Champions Hall & Suites)

  • Oversee all FANgineers on game-day

  • Pre-game prep and set-up and premium area closing

Special Events in Bobby Dodd Stadium or Russ Chandler Stadium (optional):

  • Assist GTAH Managers with event week preparation of premium areas

  • Manage assigned premium areas and respective FANgineers

  •  Oversee all FANgineers on event-day
  • Assist GTAH Managers in flipping all premium areas back to gameday set up post-event

Any additional expectations, duties and conduct will be communicated at the time of hire and throughout the internship as your skills grow.

 

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate college degree preferred (or in progress - at least a 3rd year) 
  • Experience working in the Event Management, Hospitality or Customer Service field 
  • Experience in managing peers and having strong leadership skills while leading by example 
  • Strong communications skills (oral and written) 
  • Ability to think quickly and solve problems under pressure

  • Availability to work nights, weekends and some week days
  • Ability to work all Friday Suite Stockings (6-8 hours), all Saturday Football home games (10-12 hours) & some Sunday re-stocks as needed (3-6 hours)

Application Timeline:

Online Application for the fall semester internship will open in June 2023 and close once all positions are filled. The hiring manager will contact you after your application has been reviewed. Interviews will begin in late June 2023 and will be on a rolling basis as applications are submitted. Mandatory training will be held at the start of each internship. Details will be provided upon offer letter signing by the Manager.
